Naturally Nutritious, Thoughtfully Raised

Our laying hens are fed a certified organic, soy- and corn-free feed. We choose high-quality feed so our eggs reflect what we believe food should be: simple, clean, and nutrient-dense.

FAQ

Do your chickens free range or pasture raise?
Not in the traditional sense. We are a microfarm, and our chickens are raised on our main family property where our home is located. Because our space is small and shared with our children, we do not allow chickens to roam freely across all areas. We prefer to keep things clean and well-managed for both animal health and family life.

Our hens are kept in a large, rotated outdoor run that is regularly cleaned and maintained. When we are home, we supervise them outside the run so they can forage and explore safely. This balance gives them fresh air and space while protecting them from predators, disease exposure, and outside animals. It also helps keep our living and play areas clean and comfortable for our kids.

We also manage fencing carefully because nearby wildlife and roaming birds can introduce health risks or cause our hens to escape.

Are your eggs washed and handled?
Yes. All eggs are collected, washed, and labeled in accordance with Kentucky law. This ensures a safe, clean, and properly handled product from our farm to your table.

What ingredients are in your chicken's feed?

Our laying hens are fed Bar Ale’s Organic Soy & Corn Free Layer Feed, which is also porcine-free. It is made from a blend of organic grains such as wheat, barley, oats, and peas, along with added vitamins, minerals, and calcium to support healthy hens and strong eggshells.

We choose this feed because it avoids soy, corn, and animal by-products while still providing complete nutrition for our flock. In the event that we cannot get Bar Ale's, we make our own feed. We do give our chickens kitchen scraps and mealworms at times.
